Hi, I'm Amelia.

I'm a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Certified Group Psychotherapist. I've been in private practice in Austin, TX since 2004.

I feel genuinely fortunate to work with such curious and delightful Austinites—whether individually, as couples, or in groups. Most clients who come to me are navigating relationship challenges, life transitions, difficult decisions, parenting struggles, attachment injuries from their family of origin, or a general sense of dissatisfaction with life. Many are simply looking for ways to slow down, deepen connection, and find more meaning in our fast-paced world. I approach therapy with warmth, empathy, presence, and a healthy dose of humor. I believe the most effective therapy unfolds not only in the session itself, but also in the space between appointments.

As a therapist and a curious person, I’m committed to continual growth. Consultation, workshops, and small group study all enrich my understanding and strengthen my work. I’m especially interested in attachment theory, interpersonal neurobiology, and somatic approaches—and I wouldn’t ask clients to do anything I’m not willing to do myself.

Outside of work, I enjoy walking the hike and bike trail, dancing a little two-step, working on home design projects, and sharing tacos with friends. I’ve been married for over 20 years, am the parent of three teenagers, and have called Austin home since 1998.

The main thing you should know about me is that I absolutely love being a therapist.
